Well, at least I stopped the Sith

August 23rd, 2008

So far The Great To-Do List is off to a rocky start. I spent my morning running errands that weren't really on the list, and my afternoon saving the Old Republic from Darth Malak - at least I can scratch that off the list!

I've got the new Red LEDs installed in my G15, and I've began painting the outer frame. Unfortunately, it was rather humid outside today, so the spray paint's finish isn't quite as smooth yet as I'd hoped. Hopefully a few minutes with a fine detail sandpaper, and a light second coat will correct the problem.

The Great To-Do List

August 22nd, 2008

My greatest character flaw (at least from my own perspective) is that my Creativity and Ambition always outweighs my ability to actually get things done. At any given time, I have a few dozen projects that I've started, very few of which ever see completion. While this isn't especially unique to me, I think it's probably also the largest (and most definitely most unnecessary) source of stress in my life. These unfinished projects clutter up my thoughts, not to mention my home, desk, and hard drive.

In an attempt to simplify, destress, and just generally improve my life, I've resolved to complete as many of these projects as possible in the coming weeks/months, especially before I take on anything new.

Why I love the Niagara Region…

July 29th, 2008

Ok, so it's been WAY too long since I've written anything on my blog. Frankly, summer has been a crazy and eventful time of year so far, and I just haven't felt any particular urge to write about it.

That said, I heard a bit of news on the radio today that, while upsetting, just made me realize how good we have it here.

Yesterday, the City of St. Catherines experienced its first homicide of the year. Just a few days shy of August, and there's only been ONE murder in a city with a metropolitan population of over 300,000.

I don't think I'll lose any sleep tonight.

Necron Wraith Lord

June 5th, 2008

MiniWarGamer Dave dropped into the office yesterday. While this is not entirely uncommon, especially for a Wednesday, what took place after that point was. He happened to notice (ok, I gloatingly showed off) my recent Necron Wraith Lord conversion. I honestly didn't expect the conversion to go as well as it did, and as a result I didn't take any photos while I was working on it.

Luckily, Dave came to the rescue. After an unexpected interview with yours truly, he put together a great video detailing how I pulled off the conversion.

Anyhow, you can watch the whole thing on YouTube. Or I might be nice and let you see it right here...

20 Days…

May 27th, 2008

Clearly, my plans to post a new blog entry every 2-4 days have been met with mixed success. And that's really stretching the definition of success ;) Things have been a little hectic the last few weeks, and blogging has been the furthest thing from my mind. Note that the rest of this post is going to be fairly random.

I'm working on a pretty exciting new project at my day job, which has also presented some new and unusual challenges. I won't get into too many details, but I'll let leak that it will incorporate a feature-rich web-based content editor that I'm essentially building from the ground up. Needless to say, there have been many javascript and browser-related problems to tackle. Where appropriate, I'll detail some of the challenges and solutions here.
